Google is reportedly testing a new revamped update of its Gmail UI for desktop and has started sending out invites to some users to check the new features on the UI. The new UI has been designed to bring a common experience across various screen sizes.
According to reports, the new Gmail version will bring changes to the contemporary design of the email service. The new design shows that the sidebar will be replaced with a slide-in pane to use the whole display for emails. The update also brings UI changes to Hangouts, and adds features like 'snooze an email', reminders from Google about your appointments, your do-to list or replying to an email. The revamped look also shows that the stars in the mail will be replaced with pins and all the pinned emails can be set to remain on top of the other mails. The new revamped looks resembles the mobile app versions of the client and has a cleaner, less cluttered look.
However there is no information on the official launch date of the new Gmail UI. Though Google is working on it, the UI may be just meant for testing and might not be launched at all.
Google has recently launched the Classroom tool in Google apps. The app was unveiled on Teachers Appreciation Day and is designed to create and collect assignments and provide feedback to students. The Classroom tool integrates Gmail, Drive and Docs to assist teachers in creating assignments without wasting paper. Google is testing the tool in a dozen schools in the US and is planning to launch the app worldwide by September.
