Oppo has launched the selfie-centric F1 smartphone in India. Priced at Rs. 15,990, the device will be available from February and its exact availability will vary from state to state. The dual-SIM smartphone runs Android Lollipop v5.1 with ColorOS 2.1 layered over it. It’s equipped with a 5-inch 2.5D HD display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels which is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The device is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC clocked at 1.7GHz with 3GB of RAM. The Oppo F1 also comes with a 2500mAh battery and 16GB of onboard storage that can be expanded by up to 128GB via a microSD card.
At the back of the device is a 13MP camera with f/2.2 aperture and a single LED flash. It efatures phase detection autofocus (PDAF) as well as shooting modes like HDR, Ultra HD, double exposure, GIF mode, etc. There is an 8MP camera located at the front of the camera and the display itself can double as a flash, similar to the Retina Flash used by Apple. The phone also comes with additional software like Beautify 3.0, eight live colour filters, and more. The device will be available in Rose Gold and Golden colour variants. It comes with dual-SIM slots and is VoLTE capable.
Besides the Oppo F1, the company also unveiled an upgraded variant of the device called the F1 Plus. The upgraded phone is priced at Rs. 26,990 and Oppo says that it will be available in April. The Oppo F1 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display and 4GB of RAM. Oppo didn’t reveal much else about the F1 Plus, so it is possible that the phone may have similar specifications as the standard F1.
The Oppo F1 will be competing against the likes of the Lenovo Vibe S1, another selfie-centric phone. The Vibe S1 comes with two front facing cameras, an 8MP primary camera with a 2MP secondary camera. The Vibe S1 comes with a 5-inch Full HD display and is powered 1.7Ghz MediaTek MT6752 SoC with 3GB RAM. The device is equipped with a 13MP camera at the back with 32GB of expandable storage.
