Microsoft launches Snipp3t celebrity news app
Microsoft has launched a new iOS app called Snipp3t, which enables users to follow their favorite celebrities and subscribe to their latest updates and activity news. Snipp3t has been launched in the US only for now and can be downloaded from the iOS app store. The app is meant for iOS 7.0 or higher.
Users can follow the latest news in a timeline format including the latest tweets, YouTube videos, images and reports from various sources for the followed celebrities. Subscribers will have an option to like and comment on the images and news. Users can also sign in via their Facebook accounts to see who their friends are following or users can access the app in a guest mode too.
The Snipp3t app will utilize data from Microsoft's own Bing search. No information is available whether the app will be launched for Android or Windows operating system.
Last month Facebook launched its Mentions iOS app. The app is aimed for celebrities to handle their Facebook pages while on the move. The app allows public figures to see posts that mention them and respond quickly through the dedicated app. Users will also be able to create new posts, participate in popular conversations and host live Q&A sessions from within the app. The app is open only to Facebook users with verified accounts. Facebook hasn't stated whether the app will be launched on Android or Windows Phone OS. The app was launched in India last week.
