LG working on WP 8.1, Windows Threshold devices: Reports
LG is set to join Windows bandwagon this year with a range of devices including a smartphone, PC and TVs. The information comes via a Microsoft Program Manager, who inadvertently shared details about LG's Windows initiatives in a LinkedIn post. According to the leaked details, the company is working on a Windows Phone 8.1-based smartphone and PCs and TVs running Windows Threshold.
Windows Threshold is believed to be Microsoft's next major version of Windows operating system, expected in 2015. The new operating system is considered to bridge the gap between the Windows Phone and Windows platforms.
The latest development comes months after Microsoft announced a new list of hardware partners that included LG as well. Microsoft has been making all out efforts to push its Windows operating system. It is also focussing on emerging markets such as India to push its platform.
According to a new report from AdDuplex, US, India and Brazil are top markets for Windows Phone. It's notable India (7.5 percent) is second to the US (11 percent), and ahead of Brazil (6.9 percent).
Major push to Windows Phone is expected to come from the major smartphone players such as LG and Samsung. Though, companies such as Nokia and Micromax have launched Windows Phone-based device.
It is interesting to note that LG will working on PCs and TVs as well.
