Privacy and frequent redesigns have constantly frustrated Facebook users, according to sources the aim of the Moments app will be to make it easier for users to share content that they’d normally be nervous about posting on Facebook and make it simple to share with your family and friends.
According to sources, the app is currently being 'dogfooded' by Facebook employees. Reports suggest that the app will have a grid of tiles that represents each of the users close contacts, and to share with someone, users will simply need to tap on their tile. However, whether the app will actually be launched still remains to be seen. When reached for comment, Facebook replied with its standard “We do not comment on rumors or speculation.”
It is unclear if Moments would be integrated with Facebook groups or will be a standalone app. Facebook has previously created standalone specialized apps like Paper, a social news reader iPhone app with a unique user interface and Slingshot for sending ephemeral messages.
According to reports Facebook is also testing self-destructing posts, which will let users schedule posts for deletion. A Facebook spokesperson confirmed testing the feature: “We’re running a small pilot of a feature on Facebook for iOS that lets people schedule deletion of their posts in advance.”
