It's Apple's day today to usher in its new devices, and while we have been hearing rumours of a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch device, a Japanese source is claiming that the 5.5-inch device will called the iPhone 6 Plus. This contradicts earlier rumours of the large device being called the iPhone Air or even the iPhone Phablet.
Thanks to China Mobile, we also have some idea about the specifications of the iPhone 6 which will be the upgrade to the 5/5S. The new iPhone 6 is expected to have an Apple A8 chipset with a quad-core CPU, a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1134 x 750 pixels protected with sapphire glass, an 8MP main camera, a 2.1MP front facing camera, and 16, 32, 64, and 128GB variants. The dimensions of the phone will be 138mm x 67mm x 7mm and there is also a mention of water and dust resistance.
There isn't any information regarding the specifications of the 5.5-inch model but it might just run on similar hardware and come in different memory variants just like the iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 Plus is also rumoured to run a special version of iOS 8 which will run in landscape mode to accentuate its large size and should start hitting markets later in December.
All will be revealed tonight at Apple's event which will be happening at Cupertino, California from 10:30 PM. We will be posting updates from the event so stay tuned.
