Lenovo may buy Blackberry this week, say rumors

New rumors have emerged that Lenovo is in pursuit to take over Blackberry. The rumors suggest that the Lenovo will make an offer to acquire Blackberry as early as next week. It is also rumored that Lenovo will offer $15 per share to Blackberry and the deal may go upto $18 per share.

Earlier this year Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing speaking to a French newspaper acknowledged that it is trying to gain more ground in the Western mobile market and acquiring Blackberry could help it do that. But then the Canadian government intervened sighting securities issues and the deal went sour.

According to the rumors, Lenovo is planning to start a new company focused on mobile phones which could launch in Q2 next year. This company will work under a different name and brand.
If Blackberry is willing to sell-out and if this time around a buyout actually happens, Lenovo might come out as a major phone manufacturer across the globe with Motorola mobility already in the bag. This could also mean that Blackberry would get a much needed financial injection.
